“We’re just like Kevin Bacon!”

Gamora

While Kevin Bacon is a pretty cool dude, I would say Gamora is way cooler. She’s my favorite Guardian, after all. And it’s not just because she has green skin and gorgeous ombre hair (although it doesn’t hurt…); it’s because she’s strong, could kick your ass, but still has compassion and wants the best for the galaxy.

It was my birthday just a bit earlier this month, and one of my best friends got me an awesome present: a subscription box (like Loot Crate or the Star Wars Funko box, Smugglers’ Bounty) titled Ladies of Legend that focuses on comic book heroines. July’s box happened to be Gamora themed, which is perfect for me!! Also, oddly fitting coming from this friend; she had just recently declared she wants to be Star-Lord for Halloween and I asked if I could be her Gamora.

Look what was inside the box:

IMG_2597

Also included was a magnet that I had already put up before I took this picture to show my friend what came in the box.

It’s all pretty awesome; I love reading and I love fancy bookmarks! A graphic novel! A beautiful art print! A cute little sticker and a badass little magnet! Naturally I was most excited about the Dorbz figure and the Lego mini-figure! I had actually been wanting the Dorbz figure for a while now so that was quite exciting. I love it!

This little Gamora has the honor of being the first Lego mini-fig I own as an adult! LOOK HOW ADORABLE YET FIERCE SHE IS:

IMG_2598

This Gamora is also my first Dorbz figure, and I do love their style; their smile, their closed eyes…they’re so darling and peaceful! And she looks super cute next to my Funko Pop! figure of Gamora (dressed in an outfit from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2):

IMG_2606

The Dorbz and Lego mini-fig make quite the lovely addition to my Gamora collection, as do the rest of the contents of the Ladies of Legend box! I’m quite excited to read some of the Guardians comics, because I actually haven’t ready any at all before. And as far as Gamora memorabilia in general, before I just had this Funko Pop! bobblehead you see above here, the Disney Infinity figure, and the Disney Tsum Tsum plush that stays in my car (for protection, obviously).

Oh, and this lovely work of art as well:

IMG_3869

I can never get enough of my heroines. They inspire me and bring me so much joy.

Like, I don’t need the Funko Rock Candy figure of Gamora, but I still want it. Look at it, I can’t resist it:

Image result for gamora rock candy

I only have one Rock Candy figure so far, and it’s of Diana in her Amazon training outfit from Wonder Woman:

IMG_2382

Isn’t she gorgeous?! I bought her one day on my lunch break during a particularly stressful work day to inspire me to have strength and courage.

But back to Gamora…I also recently happened to get her sister, Nebula, in a Funko Pint Size Heroes package; they are supposed to be a mystery but I felt the things on her head and had a feeling it was her…look how adorable tiny, angry Nebula is:

IMG_2383

I love my collection badass ladies in various Funko forms.

Speaking of badass ladies…and yes, I can talk about something without bringing up Star Wars, but…wait…can I, though? I don’t actually think I can….oh well. Look at this beautiful print of the main ladies of Star Wars by Mariana Avila:

IMG_2607

It includes another gorgeous and green badass, Hera Syndulla, Jyn Erso, Rey, Leia Organa, Padme, Sabine Wren, and of course my main bae, Ahsoka Tano. I have other artwork by the same artist that also celebrates the women and Latinos in Star Wars.

Also, I recently had this glorious moment of an all-ladies squad in Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes, where both the Dark Side and the Light came together to kick some men’s ass.

IMG_2596

“I’ve got gadgets and gizmos a plenty, I’ve got whozitz and whatzits galore”

I know, I like talking about my stuff a lot…but I collect some pretty interesting things, if I do say so myself. Especially Funko Pop! figures…guys, it’s not my fault. I went to Hot Topic while at the mall recently and had to go there because 1) there’s not one super close to me so I take my opportunities to peruse when I can and 2) I knew I had a $5 dollar reward from them expiring soon. I look at the wall of Funkos for like 7 minutes because I see Ezra, but I’m looking for Hera, and if they have one character from Star Wars Rebels in stock they’re bound to have another, right?! Finally, I had to ask an employee if they had any in back or if they had their entire stock pretty much out. At first, she made it seem like everything they had would be out, but then she had me describe the character I was looking for. “With the green things on her head? I’m pretty sure I’ve seen her before,”…she then got a ladder and looked behind the ones that were higher on the shelves. It reminded me of my retail days, that still aren’t very far behind me, when a customer would be looking for a DVD or CD and it wasn’t out on the floor but our system said we had in it stock; I was always determined to find it, even if that involved digging in the warehouse through boxes fellow employees never bothered putting out, for whatever reason. I digress; she did not find them on the shelves, but had told me she was almost certain she had seen the one I was looking for. A few minutes later, she came out with my little Hera and I was so happy. I went to check out, and of course the cashier has to tell me that the Funko Pops are all 3 for $30 (again, I’m familiar with this game). I politely declined, and asked him to look up my rewards that I had earned. “Actually, you have $10! Now you may as well get two more for the 3 for $3o,”. Damnit, he had me there. I was sold. Obviously I had to do it. See, I told you it wasn’t my fault! I was clearly swindled! (or easily swayed…)

img_1490

I still need to go see Rogue One again, because apparently  “General Syndulla” is called upon over the intercom at some point. With that in mind, I happened to pick up a general, a princess, and then one very special woman who was both.

The very first outfit we saw her in the first Star Wars and the first outfit we saw in the most recent Star Wars. Also, it’s interesting to see how Funko Pop’s style has changed over the years, side by side.

img_1504

Oh wait, did I show you what I got for Christmas from people I love extremely dearly?!

img_1474

I already had the exclusive Target version of Cassian Andor, but now I have Jyn Erso. I adore them both. My little heroes!

img_1505

Look at my little Rebels!!! I had to have Hera and Sabine together, but then I wanted to have Ahsoka with Hera as well; Hera was the only one to have contact with “Fulcrum” before she revealed herself to the rest of the Ghost crew. Also, they’re both my favorite fictional species: Torgrutas and Twi’leks are both gorgeous creatures.

img_1506

Sorry not sorry for the blurry picture…they were in the middle of bobbling together; who am I to stop that?! Their beautiful lekku, bobbling in the air, as free as can be.

But, back to the original Star Wars Rebel:

img_1511

I’m still mourning Carrie Fisher, so I just keep buying Princess Leia stuff. I was buying Star Wars Tsum Tsums for my niece to accompany these adorable Star Wars Little Golden Books I got for her at Barnes and Noble when I couldn’t help but add one for myself. I got the classic/original Princess Leia along with Han Solo for my niece, and the Empire Strikes Back edition, “Planet Hoth Leia” for myself.

Also, I got this Elite Jyn Erso figure like two days before I saw Rogue One (one of my very last employee purchases at my old job; I had to do it), and she looks so right with my darling Ahsoka:

img_1536

img_1537

Oh wait…I almost forgot about the princess I got!

img_1509

Here is the Hot Topic Exclusive glittery version of Ariel’s classic pink dinner dress! Ariel is my favorite princess, as I have mentioned before, so of course I had to get this exclusive of her. She’s my only Disney one; I’m still trying to keep my collection mostly Star Wars, but now I want more Disney characters to join her. For now, she resides by Jaylah (Star Trek Beyond) and Spider-Gwen.

Speaking of Ariel, I finally got to see the Broadway version of the Little Mermaid!!

img_1534

It was a gift to me from my boyfriend’s parents! And it was beautiful and phenomenal!! I’ve always loved Ariel’s sisters, and their 60’s-esque number “She’s in Love” blew me away. And singing and dancing Prince Eric?! He’s already been my favorite prince and my dream man, but somehow he just got more perfect!! I highly recommend this show!! Mostly to Disney and Little Mermaid fans, but it’s amazing whoever you are.

“To me, she’s royalty.”

“I read the news today, oh boy…”

I’m absolutely devastated. Carrie Fisher passed away today after suffering a heart attack on a plane last week. I’m honestly heartbroken. I don’t even know what to say…I wasn’t expecting to have to say goodbye to another one of my idols this year. A woman I’ve admired all of my life; when I was little, for her various roles (of course Star Wars but also others like the less appreciated classic The Burbs), and as I’ve been an adult struggling with mental illness, she’s become even more of an inspiration to me as she’s been so open with her own struggles. I adore this woman, I always have, and I always will. This year has honestly been terrible, from my beloved David Bowie, to Gene Wilder, Prince, George Michael, (among many others, I know I’ve discussed those as well) and now Carrie Fisher. Also, the tragedy that was this year’s presidential election…I’m devastated. I’ve never witnessed such an awful year in my young life. There’s been some excellent films, like Star Trek Beyond and Rogue One, and I finally got out a new job that isn’t retail that I like so far…so it’s not completely hopeless. But I’m still devastated by the election and all of the bigotry and hate that apparently still thrives in my country. And now, I’ve lost my Princess Leia, my General. We all have. It’s comforting to know I’m not the only fan who has sobbed over the loss of this beautiful star, with all of the outpouring on social media I’ve seen today.

What’s even worse? I could have met her back in August at Wizard World Comic Con in Chicago. I was fortunate enough to get a seat during her panel and hear her speak while being in the same room with her, and I was maybe just like 5 feet away from her when she was doing autographs and pictures with other fans. I only didn’t choose to meet her at the time because I was trying to be financially responsible and not add to the credit card debt I had accumulated at the time. I have learned my lesson; I would really rather be poor for a little bit than miss out on what would turn out to be the only opportunity I would have to meet one of my lifelong idols. I still donned a Princess Leia-inspired outfit (dress by Her Universe, of course), and I was hoping she would notice me while signing autographs and posing for pictures, but she was too busy (which is fine. I wouldn’t want her to neglect her other fans). Not buying a photo op with her will forever be my greatest regret in life.

IMG_0870IMG_0857IMG_0851IMG_0848

I’ve been so busy with my old job, my new job, and holiday shopping and festivities, I haven’t even been able to talk about how much I loved Rogue One. And…SPOILERS AHEAD!!

I was crying at the end of the movie because of all of the tragic events, and then I was crying happy tears and jumping in my seat because the movie ended with Princess Leia receiving the plans to the Death Star, and even though it was slightly odd because it was a CGI Carrie Fisher, I still cried at the sight of her. Also, I’m so glad they didn’t just cast another actress for that moment; I know Carrie Fisher wouldn’t have been too happy about that. At that panel back in August, someone mentioned the new Han Solo movie and asked if she would like to see a similar movie for Princess Leia, and she seemed to hate that idea because she is the only rightful Princess Leia. And damn straight, she is. I have been wanting to go see Rogue One again because apparently I missed all of the Star Wars rebels Easter eggs/references, so I need to watch it again and take a closer look. Now, I’m just going to be sobbing even more when that very last scene comes up.

Let’s take a moment and just enjoy a snippet of my Leia collection:

Only one out of my three Star Wars blankets…have you ever seen such a lovely blanket? I just haven’t put this Leia mermaid by Aleigh Watford up yet because she’s part of a mermaid art collection I’m working on.

Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill | Rare and beautiful celebrity photos:

On Nov. 13, 1978, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher were taking a break from filming “The Star Wars Holiday Special” when a news wire photographer caught this cute moment.:

Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher, 1977:

Harrison Ford, David Prowse, Carrie Fisher, Peter Mayhew, Mark Hamill and Kenny Baker:

Also, we need to talk about how Kenny Baker and Carrie Fisher passed away the same year….Princess Leia is going up to Heaven to be with her little messenger, R2-D2.  One of my other Star Wars idols, Ashley Eckstein, posted this on her social media pages:

Image may contain: one or more people

Wait…admire her some more, and this time, smile:

Okay, she’s not saying this line at this exact moment, but I love in The Burbs when she says to Ray (played by my also beloved Tom Hanks) “you were up at the crack of dawn watching a dog poop.”

I could go all day….I’ll stop now. But it’s so sad. What makes me the saddest is that I truly believed she would be okay, that she was going to pull through just fine. I foolishly thought this year couldn’t get any worse. This is how I feel about this year:

Nobody was ready for you to leave, General…

Image may contain: 1 person, text

“And the stars look very different today…”

“Oh there’s an empty place in my bones, that calls out for something unknown,”

Actually, familiarity is the most comforting to me right now. While November/December is a time I try to not spend so much on myself, I decided that I needed to get my geek on and go to another comic convention. This one wasn’t a big one in the city, though; it was Mighty Con, which was less than a half hour away  from me. Cheap admission, and I already had a few Cosplays ready to go, it was a no brainer. Can you guess who I was?!

Alright, I’ll tell you! I was Ahsoka Tano, one of my beloved Star Wars heroes/favorite characters. I already had everything I needed for this costume from a convention I went to last March. In fact, that’s how I justified that investment at the time: “Oh, I’ll wear this a bunch of times to other conventions,”. That is also how I want to justify my dream purchase of a latex headpiece of Ahsoka’s lovely Torgruta lekku and montrals on Etsy, but I won’t let myself buy it just yet; the good ones are all over $100. But like, I could honestly dress up as Ahsoka a few times a year for the rest of my life, having discovered the joy of Cosplay at these lovely nerd conventions. So eventually, I do plan on getting one of those expensive headpieces…or two; her lekku is longer in her Rebels look, which I would also love to do someday but that costume is a bit more difficult to find. I would actually have to make that myself, most likely…or commission someone far more talented than I.

Another thing I love about dressing up as Ahsoka is connecting with other Clone Wars and Rebels fans and having young girls be excited to see me. At this convention, my best friend dressed as Princess Anna of Arendelle, so we were a double-whammy of awesome. I had a few children, both young boys and girls, and adults like my outfit, but my favorite was this little girl who was in awe of us together and her parents told us (she, like myself as a wee lass her age, was quite shy) that we were her two favorite characters. We bumped into them a few times after our initial encounter; the second time, they asked to take a picture. The little girl- who had her own little Batgirl cosplay going on- kept smiling at us, and the parents felt bad for “bugging” us but we honestly loved it, it was just so sweet.

img_1332

In between impressing the children, I wandered off while Princess Anna was kicking ass during a Smash Brothers tournament looking at Star Wars toys. I always look at Star Wars toys in case they have something of Ahsoka. Here I am, looking at some stupid Boba Fett action figure when the seller approaches me and asks “Did you see the Ahsoka figure?”. It was literally right in front of me and I missed it somehow when I actually looking for it. I gasped. I said something about how I was tempted because I never see that action figure anywhere (at least at a reasonable price, which this one was), and he conceded its’ rarity. He then told me he would give it to me for $25 instead of $30 because I seemed to be a fan. How magical is that?! I’m dressed up as Ahsoka and I finally find the Elite Series action figure for a good price!!

img_1334-2

Due to my intense love of Toy Story, she did not stay in that box for long. Also, I don’t know what that blue glare on her chest near her lekku is about; there’s no blue spot on her now. Now she is roaming free, protecting my dresser with her lightsabers:

Image result for ahsoka tano rebels gif lightsabers

I have justified this purchase because it was a magical moment and I collect everything Ahsoka. There, that’s my excuse. Now, I still want that Wal Mart exclusive Elite (I know the ad says “black” but it’s wrong) Series figure of her in her Clone Wars days:

Image result for ahsoka walmart elite series action figure

Like, just in case anyone who loves me is reading…I would really love to have that Ahsoka figure ;-).

But guys…now that I have one Elite Series action figure, can I stop? Can I only have 2?! I suddenly want Jyn Erso and Rey as well…perhaps also Cassian Andor and Luke Skywalker, if one exists with him in his all-black Return of the Jedi outfit (obviously his sexiest outfit). Do I need them? No, but…I just really like them. I know most adult collectors typically keep them in the box, but I like being able to touch them and make them move. After all, they are action figures, aren’t they?! Also, I can hand them down to my children one day, if I ever have them. And they better play with them. But with care! But like, with liberty; I can’t be like the dad in The Lego Movie.

But really…I can’t buy anything for myself anymore. I’m cutting myself off! I already let myself indulge in a lot of retail therapy in result of this past presidential election (yes, my heart is still broken). In fact, one of those impulsive purchases that seeped from my melancholy was this beautiful Nightmare Before Christmas print and Tsum Tsum set by Spooksieboo (which is also where I got my bloody FN-2187 print that is on my wall). First, look at how she packaged them to me; it’s like a I got a little Halloween treat! And who else do you know sells their art with adorable little Tsum Tsums to match?! This artist is awesome and adorable.

img_1329

The two prints are now officially the first Christmas decorations I have up, while I’m still working on where to put the perfect little Santa Jack Tsum Tsum. I love Santa Jack.

img_1337

img_1336

My favorite is the Sally with the Christmas tree!

I’m sorry to disappoint you, but…this bundle is totally gone. But, check out her other artwork, it’s all super cute, mostly zombies and Dia De Los Muertos style! And a lot of Nightmare Before Christmas stuff!!

“Now he’s up above my head, hanging by a little thread,”

I think I’ve just briefly discussed my Disney Tsum Tsums before, but I must update you on what I call my little Spider Squad + Gamora:

img_1148

Aren’t they precious?! I have Spider-Gwen, Spider-Man, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, and Gamora from Guardians of the Galaxy on side of my car, accompanying me on my everyday travels. Spider-Woman makes an appearance in the Spider-Gwen comics, but I haven’t read any of her own comics. Nor have I read of Miles Morales, I must admit…but I needed him. He is half Hispanic and half African American! I love seeing more diversity in comics and superhero movies lately, being a minority myself. I am a half-breed as well (as Cher would call me), and also half Hispanic like Miles Morales!! Also, his Spider-suit is black and red, which is my favorite color combination. I couldn’t resist him. You can get your own adorable little Marvel buddies at the Disney Store!

Also, Spider-Gwen and Spider-Woman aren’t my newest additions to my Tsum Tsum traveling buddies gang:

img_1258img_1257

I got Jango Fett and Aayla Secura from their latest Star Wars collection! While I think Boba Fett is overrated (but still makes for a cool car coaster, as you can see with my little Aayla), I love Jango. Perhaps it’s my love of the Clone Wars, and having been able to get to know his clones better through that show. Or maybe it’s just that I like his color scheme better…who knows!! (Okay, it’s the color scheme…)

And my little Aayla…I love Twi’leks. I love their lekku. That’s why I have her on the lower level of my car, so I can see her lekku more! So here’s a better shot of that, as well as a side shot so you can see her blue lightsaber:

img_1263

img_1264

Obviously, they’re not my only Star Wars Tsum Tsums!

img_1259

img_1260

img_1149

I still want more. They’re barely fitting in these tiny spaces in my car now but I still want more! I want most of the other Star Wars characters they sell, more of the Marvel ones like Captain America, and of course the classic Disney ones, like Princess Aurora from an upcoming Sleeping Beauty collection. I have a plan if I decide to go crazy and buy all of the ones I want…first of all, don’t judge me. They’re reasonably priced/somewhat cheap, and after they have been at the Disney Store for a while, they go to stores like Wal-Mart and Target for a little bit cheaper! But anyway; if I end up getting all the little cuties I want, I plan on sticking them with double-sided velcro on my dashboard, like my Hula girl, Lolita. Well, not exactly on my dashboard; just right under the bottom of the front window? I don’t know car part terms, okay. I would just have them lined up against the window with the velcro on the bottom so they wouldn’t be rolling all over the place while I’m driving.

In other nerdy collectible news, Star Trek Beyond came out this week and I got the Best Buy exclusive Steelbook edition simply because I love the cover. It’s just like the poster they released when the movie was in theaters that was a throwback to the original poster of the first Star Trek motion picture. Also, I have a hook-up, so I also got a Starfleet pin this week:

img_1255

They both look so perfect with my little Jaylah Funko Pop! figure!

“Hold me, like you did by the lake on Naboo,”

Evidently today is Star Wars Prequel Appreciation Day! I did not know this day existed until yesterday, but I’m all for it. And if you’re one of those people that are like this one awkward dude who yelled at me in a pizza place “THOSE DON’T COUNT” amidst what I thought was a private conversation between my mother, a friend, and I, I kindly ask you to reconsider. And I only feel like I could even bother asking because…I used to be like that. When the prequels first came out, I enjoyed them. Then, over time in middle school and high school, without any more viewings, I decided that they sucked and I hated them (except for Revenge of the Sith). Then, sometime in my first few years of community college, I found myself completely alone for a week, with no work and nobody to hang out with. So I decided to watch all of the Star Wars films in episodic order, the way I heard George Lucas intended them to be seen. It was actually something I always wanted to do since they were all released, but I never got around to it. And no, I didn’t squeeze them all in a day; I watched them all in a week. Anyway, in that time, I decided that I liked them. They weren’t perfect, but I appreciated them. If I can change my tune, you might be able to as well!!

So, anyway, let’s get to appreciating!!

First of all, I have to refer to another website and their lovely fashion finds:

The Kessel Runway: Prequel Appreciation Day

On there, please enjoy some awesome Darth Maul shirts, Queen Amidala/Senator Padme shirts, and even Senator-on-the-romantic-Naboo-lake Padme-inspired leggings along with some Ahsoka Tano apparel (because the Clone Wars series is just another giant prequel, really).

While Ahsoka is hands-down my favorite character of the prequel time period, Padme is my favorite character from the trilogy. I have a new respect for her and I’ve written about that before. Let’s look at my Padme collection:

And, my latest Star Wars items, my Tsum Tsum’s that keep my car company:

IMG_4119

And I have this print of the beautiful artwork of Sam Skyler:

Queen Amidala Art Print

Sadly, that’s all for now. When I was just a youngling, I had an action figure of Padme in her baggy-but-cute-Queen-in-hiding look. I miss it, it was so cute!

And, while I’ve talked about her glorious fashion before, let’s just look at it again:

multiple padme

She’s even fabulous when she’s pretending to be a handmaiden:

Yet, I still need more Padme stuff in my life. Like those shirts I mentioned earlier!! They’re a start!!

And…I must remind you that my favorite Star Wars villain is Darth Maul, another awesome thing to come out of the prequels. Look again at my beautiful mug of his scary face:

IMG_3666

Okay, just one last thing…again…I just adore this dress she wore by the lake on Naboo:

I need it…okay, that’s all for now!!
