“I’m a warrior and an assassin, I don’t dance.”

I made a liar out of Gamora last Saturday night at a Halloween Bash at a local bar because I danced the night away!

But guys…I’ll admit. My costume didn’t turn out as well as I wanted. I don’t think I was exactly the right shade of green; I think I was too dark. And I was so exhausted from painting my face, neck, and shoulders over and over again because it kept cracking and peeling off, I didn’t even bother doing her silver facial markings that I even bought a special kit specifically to do. I can’t speak for the marking stencils, but I will tell you the rest of the kit was absolutely a waste of money.

IMG_3473

I got it from Spirit of Halloween, the temporary store that comes to town only in September/October. But I’m not going to discredit them completely; I got plenty of actually useful things from them for this costume. For starters, the green “body paint” is extremely light both in color and on my skin; you would need several of these to layer the paint enough to cover my skin. And the lipstick you see in the packaging there??

IMG_3474

Looks like green lipstick, right?! WRONG!! It is literally just a clear lip balm. It is useless if you want to be Gamora.

So the kit failed me in two ways I needed to make up for. I started with the green make up by looking at cosplay tutorials on Pinterest but ultimately decided that those methods were too costly and too time-consuming just to go to a party at a bar for 3-4 hours. If I was going to a comic convention all day, I would probably use one of the products or methods these various people online suggested, like crushing a bunch of green eyeshadow palettes and mixing it with foundation. Alas, I was trying to do a fun Gamora look on a tight budget.

Which leads me to the products I actually did use to become the green-skinned badass warrior heroine I so adore:

First, I painted my nails green (actually my mom did because you always do your own nails terribly with your writing hand unless you’re a professional) with the Crayola Green Crayon shade by Sally Hansen. And I started with this green cream make-up found in the Halloween costume section at Meijer by Fun World for $2.

IMG_3476

However, I sensed it wouldn’t be enough, and I saw a similar green cream make-up also at the Halloween costume section but this time at Target by Rubies for only $1. I actually ended up going to buy another one the night of the party because I was already running out of the tubes I originally bought before I had to redo my face after it all came off after snacking on potato chips. And on my neck, it just kept cracking in random spots and on my shoulders, it just didn’t want to stay on. The second one by Rubies from Target was actually smoother cream and looked much prettier, which is weird because it came out of the tube looking the shade of army green, but it blended with my other green just fine.

IMG_3598

Then, of course, I needed to get actual green lipstick, which is hard to find for a decent price and physically at the store; I didn’t have time to order anything online because it was the week of the party when I finally tested the lipstick from the Gamora kit I had purchased weeks ago and realized it was indeed a huge liar in a tiny tube. I found an actually green lipstick online available at my nearest Target through much difficulty because it’s technically a “lip cream”. It’s “Out of This World” by Nyx. Online, it looked like the perfect slightly darker shade of green I needed, but in person, it was more in the blueish-green family. Alas, I had no other immediately available options. It even looks different in the pictures I took and I don’t know why; I didn’t use flash or anything different. In the first one, it looks like it looked online, pretty much perfect. In the second one, that reflects what it actually looked like in person. IMG_3484

IMG_3485

And I mentioned earlier I was so tired of greening myself for hours that I didn’t bother using the stencil kit for her silver facial markings…but I did at least put some dark purple eyeshadow on, because you can see that in some shots in the first movie.

Image result for gamora guardians of the galaxy

For her hair, I went with her look Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2:

IMG_3495

This is one of the few things I didn’t have to buy because I already had (along with the purple eyeshadow and the black boots I wore). I bought this temporary hair dye by Garnier at least several months ago if not longer for something under $10.

IMG_3475

I’ve actually wanted to do that to my hair for a long time now, but permanently. I think I only bought this to test it out, see if I like it, but luckily it has served me an actual purpose in becoming Gamora. It only lasted about 3 days, I miss it.

IMG_3591

Now, to the outfit…I originally wanted to go for her look in the first movie, but I ended up channeling her look in the second movie. Either way, her look is cool black pants, black boots, and some cool top. And something on her arms/wrists.

I bought super cool leggings from Old Navy that had (faux) leather panels on the sides.

IMG_3477

Then I got a black cold-shoulder top and fingerless gloves from Spirit of Halloween. I originally wanted this top so I only had to paint my shoulders and hands (though I also became too tired to paint my hands as well on the actual night of the party). I only wanted to actually have green arms because after considering a tutorial for armbands using colored tights on Pinterest, I was nervous that the shade of tights I could find wouldn’t match the paint, so I ultimately decided to just go for it. But with this top, I was going to create the illusion that I was just wearing long black armbands/gloves/gauntlets, but then I realized it looks like an outfit she wears in Vol. 2 anyway.

IMG_3478

IMG_3480IMG_3479

I also decided I wanted to carry a sword like Gamora, but hers is very specific and nobody makes toy versions (or decently priced replicas) of it for whatever lame reason. So I just got a generic one from Meijer for $6.

IMG_3481

(Pssst…hers looks like this but oh well:)

IMG_3496

Now here’s the whole look put together, featuring my friend Hallie dressed as my Star-Lord:

We entered a costume contest that night and actually ended up being finalists!! We would have been in 3rd place but they only gave the winning title and prize to one person. It was down to us, a couple dressed up as Forest Gump and Jenny, and a man dressed as Wilson the neighbor from the show Home Improvement. Then we were out and it was ultimately between that couple and Wilson and the neighbor with his own little fence won. We were so close! So that was exciting. Pictured below are all of the finalists.

IMG_1856

Becoming Gamora was harder than I thought and ultimately didn’t turn out the way I wanted it to, but people still got it and it was still fun going out as a pair.

“We’re just like Kevin Bacon!”

Gamora

While Kevin Bacon is a pretty cool dude, I would say Gamora is way cooler. She’s my favorite Guardian, after all. And it’s not just because she has green skin and gorgeous ombre hair (although it doesn’t hurt…); it’s because she’s strong, could kick your ass, but still has compassion and wants the best for the galaxy.

It was my birthday just a bit earlier this month, and one of my best friends got me an awesome present: a subscription box (like Loot Crate or the Star Wars Funko box, Smugglers’ Bounty) titled Ladies of Legend that focuses on comic book heroines. July’s box happened to be Gamora themed, which is perfect for me!! Also, oddly fitting coming from this friend; she had just recently declared she wants to be Star-Lord for Halloween and I asked if I could be her Gamora.

Look what was inside the box:

IMG_2597

Also included was a magnet that I had already put up before I took this picture to show my friend what came in the box.

It’s all pretty awesome; I love reading and I love fancy bookmarks! A graphic novel! A beautiful art print! A cute little sticker and a badass little magnet! Naturally I was most excited about the Dorbz figure and the Lego mini-figure! I had actually been wanting the Dorbz figure for a while now so that was quite exciting. I love it!

This little Gamora has the honor of being the first Lego mini-fig I own as an adult! LOOK HOW ADORABLE YET FIERCE SHE IS:

IMG_2598

This Gamora is also my first Dorbz figure, and I do love their style; their smile, their closed eyes…they’re so darling and peaceful! And she looks super cute next to my Funko Pop! figure of Gamora (dressed in an outfit from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2):

IMG_2606

The Dorbz and Lego mini-fig make quite the lovely addition to my Gamora collection, as do the rest of the contents of the Ladies of Legend box! I’m quite excited to read some of the Guardians comics, because I actually haven’t ready any at all before. And as far as Gamora memorabilia in general, before I just had this Funko Pop! bobblehead you see above here, the Disney Infinity figure, and the Disney Tsum Tsum plush that stays in my car (for protection, obviously).

Oh, and this lovely work of art as well:

IMG_3869

I can never get enough of my heroines. They inspire me and bring me so much joy.

Like, I don’t need the Funko Rock Candy figure of Gamora, but I still want it. Look at it, I can’t resist it:

Image result for gamora rock candy

I only have one Rock Candy figure so far, and it’s of Diana in her Amazon training outfit from Wonder Woman:

IMG_2382

Isn’t she gorgeous?! I bought her one day on my lunch break during a particularly stressful work day to inspire me to have strength and courage.

But back to Gamora…I also recently happened to get her sister, Nebula, in a Funko Pint Size Heroes package; they are supposed to be a mystery but I felt the things on her head and had a feeling it was her…look how adorable tiny, angry Nebula is:

IMG_2383

I love my collection badass ladies in various Funko forms.

Speaking of badass ladies…and yes, I can talk about something without bringing up Star Wars, but…wait…can I, though? I don’t actually think I can….oh well. Look at this beautiful print of the main ladies of Star Wars by Mariana Avila:

IMG_2607

It includes another gorgeous and green badass, Hera Syndulla, Jyn Erso, Rey, Leia Organa, Padme, Sabine Wren, and of course my main bae, Ahsoka Tano. I have other artwork by the same artist that also celebrates the women and Latinos in Star Wars.

Also, I recently had this glorious moment of an all-ladies squad in Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes, where both the Dark Side and the Light came together to kick some men’s ass.

IMG_2596

“What would I do to see you, smiling at me?”

That is my favorite lyric from my favorite song from my favorite Disney Princess movie, The Little Mermaid! Did you know that it’s the 27th anniversary of when that was released?!

Happy Birthday, Little Mermaid!!

Image result for little mermaid ariel gif

Thank you for giving me my favorite princess, Ariel, as well as my favorite prince, Eric!!

Image result for little mermaid ariel gif

This glorious pearl of a film is not much older than me, so that’s probably why I have grown up with it and loved it my entire life. My love has only grown over the years; each time I watch it, I find something new to love. I also think it’s my love of it and the characters, mostly Ariel and her sisters, that also make me enjoy watching the stupid prequel The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Beginning. Don’t have hope; it’s a dumb story, I just love me some Ariel and her sisters and there at least a handful of hilarious moments! The sequel, on the other hand? Yeah, it’s actually insulting to even think of that atrocity on this special day of Little Mermaid legacy, so…let’s just not!

Like my Star Wars apparel collection and my Rolling Stones collection, I do have a lot of Ariel shirts. Obviously it’s necessary; she is my favorite princess! I’m sorry to disappoint, but I actually didn’t gather my collection of Ariel shirts/sweatshirts/socks/etc out of pure laziness. But unlike my Star Wars and Rolling Stones collections, I don’t have an Ariel dress…yet! I actually recently ordered myself a shorter version of one of my favorite Ariel outfits from Hot Topic:

Related image

It’s cute enough to wear on a normal day, isn’t it?! Seriously; I can’t wait to bust it out on date night or even to the next comic convention!

As far as less costume-like and just simple dresses that showcase my admiration…I don’t have it yet but I will someday hopefully soon-ish, this beautiful tattoo-styled Ariel print dress, also from Hot Topic:

I NEED it!! Also, I might want it because I’m particularly fond of tattoos…I do want an Ariel tattoo someday; I’m thinking of possibly having her next to R2-D2, taking the place of another dear Disney Princess, Leia, giving him vital information. How adorable would that be?!

Speaking of showing off my love of Ariel, I recently put up some artwork I’ve collected over the last year on my wall. Don’t judge by the way it’s arranged and old nail marks still in the walls…and I know it’s crooked and uneven. It’s not final yet! I just wanted to finally have them up:

Also, here’s a throwback to a few years ago when my boyfriend and I were Ariel and Eric on Halloween:

And here’s another more recent throwback to when I geeked out over Ariel in Disney World (and she geeked out over my pins of herself on my lanyard):

Last but not least, here is some Sebastian wisdom to cap this anniversary:

Fact.:

“Now he’s up above my head, hanging by a little thread,”

I think I’ve just briefly discussed my Disney Tsum Tsums before, but I must update you on what I call my little Spider Squad + Gamora:

img_1148

Aren’t they precious?! I have Spider-Gwen, Spider-Man, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, and Gamora from Guardians of the Galaxy on side of my car, accompanying me on my everyday travels. Spider-Woman makes an appearance in the Spider-Gwen comics, but I haven’t read any of her own comics. Nor have I read of Miles Morales, I must admit…but I needed him. He is half Hispanic and half African American! I love seeing more diversity in comics and superhero movies lately, being a minority myself. I am a half-breed as well (as Cher would call me), and also half Hispanic like Miles Morales!! Also, his Spider-suit is black and red, which is my favorite color combination. I couldn’t resist him. You can get your own adorable little Marvel buddies at the Disney Store!

Also, Spider-Gwen and Spider-Woman aren’t my newest additions to my Tsum Tsum traveling buddies gang:

img_1258img_1257

I got Jango Fett and Aayla Secura from their latest Star Wars collection! While I think Boba Fett is overrated (but still makes for a cool car coaster, as you can see with my little Aayla), I love Jango. Perhaps it’s my love of the Clone Wars, and having been able to get to know his clones better through that show. Or maybe it’s just that I like his color scheme better…who knows!! (Okay, it’s the color scheme…)

And my little Aayla…I love Twi’leks. I love their lekku. That’s why I have her on the lower level of my car, so I can see her lekku more! So here’s a better shot of that, as well as a side shot so you can see her blue lightsaber:

img_1263

img_1264

Obviously, they’re not my only Star Wars Tsum Tsums!

img_1259

img_1260

img_1149

I still want more. They’re barely fitting in these tiny spaces in my car now but I still want more! I want most of the other Star Wars characters they sell, more of the Marvel ones like Captain America, and of course the classic Disney ones, like Princess Aurora from an upcoming Sleeping Beauty collection. I have a plan if I decide to go crazy and buy all of the ones I want…first of all, don’t judge me. They’re reasonably priced/somewhat cheap, and after they have been at the Disney Store for a while, they go to stores like Wal-Mart and Target for a little bit cheaper! But anyway; if I end up getting all the little cuties I want, I plan on sticking them with double-sided velcro on my dashboard, like my Hula girl, Lolita. Well, not exactly on my dashboard; just right under the bottom of the front window? I don’t know car part terms, okay. I would just have them lined up against the window with the velcro on the bottom so they wouldn’t be rolling all over the place while I’m driving.

In other nerdy collectible news, Star Trek Beyond came out this week and I got the Best Buy exclusive Steelbook edition simply because I love the cover. It’s just like the poster they released when the movie was in theaters that was a throwback to the original poster of the first Star Trek motion picture. Also, I have a hook-up, so I also got a Starfleet pin this week:

img_1255

They both look so perfect with my little Jaylah Funko Pop! figure!

“She asked me to stay and she told me to sit anywhere; when I looked around I noticed there wasn’t a chair,”

This classic Beatles lyric just makes me imagine a scene with Jaylah from Star Trek Beyond being her usual awesome self:

Star Trek Beyond:

Oh, speaking of Jaylah, my little Jaylah finally has a buddy:

I got a little Funko Pop! bobblehead of Spider-Gwen! I finished one of my Spider-Gwen graphic novels that one of my best friends gave me and I loved it! How can I not love a spunky superhero who is a drummer in all-ladies rock and roll band when she’s not webbing around?!

My list of badass ladies to admire just keeps growing..but let’s go back to my number one: my Ahsoka Tano!! Season 2 of Star Wars Rebels came out on DVD and Blu-Ray last week so, that’s basically what I’ve been doing…sorry, productivity! I’m not done yet, because I’m savoring every episode and Rebels Recon, and perhaps watching some scenes over and over again, like Ahsoka’s battle scene with the Seventh Sister (voiced by Sarah Michelle Gellar aka BUFFY aka Freddie Prinze Jr.’s Wife!) in the “Future of the Force” episode. Ahsoka is just phenomenal, so elegant and fierce in her combat. Also, I tweeted about my wonderful purchase and I how spent the rest of that day and Freddie Prinze Jr. AND Ashley Eckstein herself liked my tweet!! It’s the little things that make my day.

fullsizerender-26

Speaking of my idol Ahsoka, look what I have on my car now that I bought from AStickyObsession:

my-ahsoka-decal

Is it weird I feel like she’s my little Jedi guardian? But really, this decal is amazing and I’ve never seen anything like it until I found this Etsy shop. There’s also a grown-up, Rebels version of Ahsoka that is amazing, but I chose this one because I’m more attached to her Clone Wars look. Speaking of Rebels, there’s an amazing one of Hera as well, but I don’t consider myself enough of a Hera fan to get it, but it’s pretty cool. There’s also a little BB-8 one I have my eye on to order possibly sometime in the nearish future.

Sorry for the lack of posts lately, I lack both the inspiration and the time lately. Alas, I’ll be back shortly, possibly returning with some book reviews! I recently purchased a Black Widow novel called Forever Red, and the cashier at the book store was curious how it would compare to the comics. I only just got into Spider-Gwen but now I need some Black Widow comics as well to compare to this novel I’m excited to read!!

“All the leaves are brown, and the sky is gray,”

Actually, not at all; it’s still summer here in the Midwest of America! Alas, I’m feeling very wintery today, cuddled up with a Star Wars blanket in my cold apartment, looking at Christmas ornaments. Normally I hate thinking of Christmas so ridiculously early because, having worked retail for the past six years, the holiday is just a little tainted for me. You know, with having to work on Thanksgiving night, working longer shifts for the extended store hours, dealing with the worst of the craziest shoppers for 3 months (after Christmas/January is the busiest time for returns), having the same, crappy Christmas music play over and over (aka, songs/versions of normally good Christmas songs that I don’t like)…it’s a nightmare. But hey, I still enjoying finding awesome gifts for my friends and family and spending time with all of them. Last December, when I started this blog, actually, I had wrote about my Star Wars Christmas Tree. It was majestic and I plan on doing it again. Now, I’m only thinking about it because on Pinterest, DisneyStore’s official account posts their latest items on the daily. Today, they posted this beauty that I NEED:

Rey, my lightsaber wielding, badass and overall incredible hero. After all, she would look perfect on the Star Wars Christmas Tree:

winter 2015 044

But, I still need an all-Disney Christmas tree as well, because DisneyStore.com also released these:

Yup, it’s Princess Elena of Avalor, Disney’s first Hispanic/Latina Princess! So far, the show is fun and darling. I love the theme song, I love her flying cheetah companions, and most importantly, I love Elena. As a Hispanic/Latina Disney lover, I’m so happy to feel finally represented by Disney with a perfect and lovely princess.

And here’s Cinderella, bright and early in the morning in her bed! I love this scene, her waking up and talking to all the animals about her dream. And she looks so incredibly darling.

And here’s my favorite princess, my Ariel, just looking so pretty and epic.

I love Belle. She’s a lovely bookworm, how can I not?! I also love this scene; these ornaments are literally capturing my favorite moments in these films, including Rey with the lightsaber.

And Spider-Man is just awesome and I love how he looks against the blue building.

Obviously I’m not going to buy them all just yet; they typically run good sales when you buy multiple when it gets closer to the holidays.

Damn you, DisneyStore.com, for making me look forward to Christmas in August!!

“I like the beats, and the shouting,”

So yes, Star Trek Beyond technically comes out today but I was lucky enough to see it Thursday night and I loved it!! I don’t want to say anything that might spoil the movie, so all I will say is that I love Jayla, played by Sofia Boutella, who was super cool in Kingsman as Gazelle, so I admittedly had high hopes when I discovered that she was in the new Star Trek and I was not disappointed. Yet another strong, woman idol to add to the list! Also, all I want is a cute top (perhaps a flowy tee? I just don’t like the fit of most standard t-shirts) with this image on it because it’s awesome:

Her character is a lone wolf of sorts, just like Rey! She is just awesome and by far my favorite part of the new movie. Oh, and speaking of my idols…

The Her Universe Fashion Show happened tonight at the San Diego Comic Con!! No, I wasn’t there…I never have been but someday I will!! I’m just beyond in awe of Ashley Eckstein’s beautiful Ahsoka-inspired braids and her Ahsoka dress made entirely out of Legos!! I took these from the Snapchat accounts of Hot Topic and Polyvore:

IMG_0707IMG_0712

Ashley Eckstein becomes even more fabulous and inspiring every day. On Hot Topic’s Snapchat, she talked about how powerful women are “increasingly being celebrated, highlighted, and applauded”, so of course she had an Ahsoka outfit! But aside from my Ahsoka love, she’s absolutely right and it’s just amazing how strong women are becoming more prominent in our pop culture. Speaking of strong, powerful, awesome women, my two closest girlfriends gave me these graphic novels for my birthday, and I’m so excited to read them:

IMG_0713

And they happen to be laying on top of a Star Wars comics-style blanket my boyfriend’s family made for me for my birthday! I’m especially stoked about my Spider-Gwen comics; I’ve been intrigued merely by images of her for a while now, so it will be fun to read her stories.

“I don’t like bullies. I don’t care where they come from.”

Happy Birthday, America!! I’ve had to work a bunch this past weekend but when I’ve been off I’ve been wearing such spirited things; last night I rocked a black tank top with the American flag Rolling Stones logo, and tonight I wore a lovely Captain America top by Her Universe from her special 75th Anniversary of Captain America collection for Kohl’s. I didn’t get any cute pictures with it on; my parents and I tried to take a festive family portrait but either I looked awful while my mom looked pretty, or vice versa, or we both looked cute but then my dad’s eyes were closed. Oh well. Instead, or at least for now, here is a picture of Ashley Eckstein herself wearing the shirt I’m wearing right this minute:

She is just too awesome and adorable to handle sometimes.

Speaking of Captain America…it’s also Steve Rogers’ birthday!!

#sorrynotsorry

Captain America is my favorite superhero, so I have to celebrate him! Sadly, I will be at work all day, but I’ve already started watching Captain America: The First Avenger tonight and I will definitely watch Captain America: The Winter Soldier tomorrow. I don’t believe I’ve discussed my love of Marvel movies enough, but I am so in love with these stories and the relationships between the characters of the Avengers movies. I appreciate the Thor and Iron Man movies, but the Captain America ones are my favorites. I’m not sure if Captain America: Civil War is still in theaters but I’m 100% down for going to see it a third time to further celebrate my superhero boyfriend’s birthday. It comes out on Blu-Ray and DVD in September and I’m so excited to have more of Cap and Bucky in my home. And Wanda. And Black Panther. And the new Spider-Man…I just love them.

Aside from winning my heart in terms of solo movies, Steve Rogers is such a beautiful and inspirational character in the other movies as well. After all, he was chosen for the Super Soldier serum because of his huge heart and selflessness. I was attracted to him pre-serum when he huddled himself over the grenade that he didn’t know was fake. And, tiny Steve Rogers is adorable anyway. Oh, how I wish I could be the one to give him his first dance.

I have to admit, though, that I also have a crush on his best friend, Bucky Barnes. Do you blame me, though?!

Steve and Bucky ❤️:

Okay….I’m getting quite distracted; this day is about Rogers!!

My love of Captain America was another love that was introduced to me by my dear friend Jeff, who also got me into Star Trek. I have the greatest friends ever, basically.

Oh, Steve Rogers, let’s just look at you for a bit:

But really, he’s a beauty inside and out, never forget that.

He’s also one of my favorites to play as in Disney Infinity; his shield makes this amazing, soaring swoosh noise when I throw it and he is just the best.

Also, when I went to C2E2 this past winter, I got this beautiful art from Naomi Romero:

Happy Fourth of July!! And, more importantly, Happy Birthday, Captain America!!

“I’ve had the time of my life, and I owe it all to you,”

I’m talking to you, Disney Infinity! And yet, you decide to break my heart and get yourself cancelled. It’s been almost two months since the news was revealed, but I think I’m ready to talk about it. I must lament about what will never be…

First of all, I planned on playing Disney Infinity for the rest of my life! Or rather, I just didn’t even consider that it could ever end. After all, video game franchises tend to just go on and on; like, what Call of Duty are we even on?! The 140th?! But really; it all looks the exact same every time!! And you can’t possibly say the same thing about Disney Infinity, Disney Infinity 2.0, and Disney Infinity 3.0. First, I had fun in the playset storylines; I think my favorite would actually be a tie between Monsters University and the Incredibles. Then, there was the first joys of the Toy Box; I was enjoying the crap out of having a Nightmare Before Christmas-themed sky and background, having that score play while I run around Cinderella’s castle as Elsa, Woody, Wreck-it Ralph, or Rapunzel! Then 2.0 came along, and I could do the same thing and MORE! I built my own Agrabah, had another random land with the Lion King opening theme playing as I ran around as Gamora, Captain America, Black Widow, Jasmine, Donald Duck, etc. But my favorite installation of Disney Infinity has to be 3.0 because, well, STAR WARS! Literally my greatest fantasies came true; I could be Ahsoka seeking wisdom from Grandmother Willow while the score from Alice in Wonderland plays in the background. Also, before 3.0 came out, I had really hoped that they would make a Mulan figure, and then they did, and she was so perfect. She’s in the outfit that she wears at the end movie, not trying to impress the matchmaker in elegant and fancy clothes, not in a soldier’s uniform, but simply as herself. And she has her fan AND is wearing the medal the Emperor gives her. How badass and perfect is that?! While I was ecstatic that they had brought that fantasy to life, I’m sad now that I’ll never get the Hercules I merely hoped for.

And no, there were never any hints that they would even do that, because Hercules lost the fan vote to the promised Peter Pan that is never to be delivered. I discovered this YouTube channel called Infiniteer Adventures that has uncovered Disney Infinity figures and playsets that are never to be released. It’s both a delight and a kick to the heart because it’s fun knowing and seeing what they had planned before the cancellation, but it’s also awful knowing what we, as Disney Infinity fans, will actually never have any of these beautiful figures and playsets.

One of the Star Wars additions to 3.0 was the main cast of Rebels! Oh wait. Not all of them…okay, literally all of the crew but Hera. I never understood that decision and I’m so upset that I won’t own this epic figure and get to put her near the Rebels I do have (Kanan, Ezra, and Sabine. No Zeb for me).

I further perused through this channel and found something I didn’t expect at all: evidently they were going to add Spider-Gwen as a Marvel addition!! Admittedly, I haven’t read any Spider-Gwen comics; I’ve just seen so many images of her and just bits of the comics online and have found her so intriguing. I want to get into those comics someday. AND LOOK HOW BADASS AND BEAUTIFUL SHE WAS GOING TO BE:

I’m so sad I won’t be able to play this figure. I would have put her next to my Spider-Man on my shelf.

I must admit, though; if Disney Infinity was truly going to continue for years to come, I would need to buy a new entertainment center (again) to accommodate all of my figures. Or I would just need a whole new bookcase that I could dedicate the figures to. I usually don’t show people my collection, but now seems like a good time:

One thing I don’t think I’m going to miss about Disney Infinity? The constant belittling and ridicule I’ve endured over the years from all sorts of folk, just for playing a game I love. Perhaps it’s why I don’t really declare myself as a “gamer”, even though I love playing certain video games; I just don’t want to get into that whole mess. To so many pretentious jerks, I’m not a “real” gamer. Like, I have people ridicule my choice of console all of the time. But seriously…why does it matter to anyone else that I have a Wii U? It makes me happy, and it has no affect on other people at all. People tell me all the time I need to upgrade and get an adult console, but why? And if they’re not telling me to get a different console, they’re telling me that I have to switch to PC gaming. Sure, thanks for the recommendation, but seriously…what does it matter to them?! And it never feels like a friendly, heartfelt suggestion that is meant to better my life- it is always said in such a pretentious matter, like you’re so much better than me for playing video games the way you do, even more so for the playing the games that you do. I don’t criticize them for playing non-imaginative war games over and over…okay, at least not to their faces…but I can somewhat accept that that’s what you enjoy and leave you alone about it. I’ve had so many people tell me I’m playing a child’s game, and that just because it’s Disney it can’t be difficult, intense, or even just plain fun for someone my age. But for me, it is. I adore Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars, so it’s actually perfect. And I also enjoy just being a different character, and watching him or her run around with my intended actions. Like, I love Mario games because I love being Peach! And you can’t possibly put me down for enjoying Mario. It’s just essential and classic to anyone who enjoys video games even just mildly. I enjoy plunging into these fantasy worlds as characters I adore and even creating my own fantasy worlds. To me, running around and kicking butt as a character I love is more fun than looking down the barrel of a gun, only knowing that I’m a character in the game when I shoot and grunt. (Basically, I don’t get those shooter games. I like seeing my character.) But again, whatever; if that’s how you get your kicks, I won’t stop you. So don’t try to put me down for getting my kicks.

OH! And people think that these “Toys to Life” video games instantly just means you play with toys. I mean, as much as I miss those days, I just don’t do that. (Plus, all of the figures are actually figurines in the sense that they aren’t bendable and able to change poses like your typical “action figure”.) I will admit, though, that sometimes after I play a game for a bit and then put them back on my shelf, I do have a tendency to just gaze at all of my figures. They were made so exquisitely well and they’re just so lovely. Especially this one:

Farewell, Disney Infinity! At least I’ve been going back and forth between 2.0 and 3.0 so I’m not done yet, anyway!

“I know you, I walked with you Once Upon a Dream,”

As I somewhat promised, here are my tales from visiting all four parks in Disney World!

So, if you’ve been to Disney World lately, you know about Magic Bands. If you haven’t, they’re these bands (shocking, I know) that get you into the parks with your ticket information and you can also use them throughout the parks to charge things to your room…and yes, it’s as easy, fun, and financially dangerous as it sounds! I bought some “band-its” from the Disney Store’s website to accessorize my band. My friend Hallie had ordered a vinyl decal from Etsy to decorate hers with, but it failed to arrive before we departed for the trip. I felt bad and decided to share one of my Dalmatians with her; I got Pongo because he is my favorite, so I gave her Perdita. I had Patch left from the set I bought and decided to basically force Emily to wear him on her band so we could be a beautiful Dalmatian family together. Sadly, just after Day 1, they both lost theirs. I lost my Pongo briefly 4 times, because sadly it was quite easy, so on all of the rides I constantly was grabbing and checking my wrist to make sure Pongo didn’t fall off. They need to make those more secure! Next time, I’m going to do what Hallie did and order some vinyl decals off of Etsy….but like, several months in advance. I think she ordered hers about a month before the trip but still.

When you can’t get into Cinderella’s Castle for a fancy dinner, you at least have to get a classic picture in front of it. And when you’re walking by and see Stitch chilling right before you Main Street, you can’t help but jump in line before it gets super long. We were so excited when we discovered that they had added Rapunzel’s tower, but didn’t get any decent pictures…and that area turned out to be a restroom. We didn’t care, we still came back at night and watched the floating lanterns gleam! And then I completely freaked out when I saw Prince Eric’s (my favorite prince!!) Castle and realized it was the new Little Mermaid Ride, which was just so beautiful and majestic, and the most impressive animatronics I have seen on a ride to date. I already talked about the magical meeting with Ariel in my previous post…and you’ll be able to see below, I’m not the only one helplessly enraptured.

When you get over not being able to dine in Cinderella’s Castle, you decide you want to try the Be Our Guest restaurant because you and your friends love Beauty and the Beast. You walk by, and the Beast’s castle is very subtle but beautiful and prominent in the distance, and the bridge to the restaurant is outlined with the gargoyles that decorate the castle prior to end of the curse. Ha, just kidding. You can’t get in there either. The whole week was booked. But it’s okay, we hung around Gaston’s Tavern, had some LaFou’s Brew, and even met Gaston himself! (And while we are all old enough to have some real beer, LaFou’s Brew is a delicious mix of frozen apple juice, something maybe mango, and marshmallow foam to create the hilarious farce).

Evidently I didn’t save any of my pictures from Animal Kingdom…but I went there, I promise. Epcot was beautiful, as always. I already spoke about meeting Mexican Donald Duck, but enjoy the shot of all of us with him! Also, we found Alice dancing in the streets of their little England and decided to follow her. My hair was already severely ruined by then during that rainy, disgustingly hot day; as you can see, I gave up and put some of my hair back and then stuck a red bow in there to feel cute. But the picture above with me in the background as Alice admires Hallie’s pin lanyard is my favorite of the ones we took with her anyway. How do we have so many pictures of the characters interacting with us like that, you ask? Because Hallie’s older sister purchased a package called the Memory Maker, which saves all of the pictures you take at the park by a cast member as long as they scan your band! We almost forgot to do that when we were leaving Alice, and she adorably said “don’t forget your memories!”, which was both helpful and such an Alice thing to say.

In addition to taking many candid shots with the Memory Maker, sometimes they will add a little magic to your pictures for no other reason than because they can! One of them we expected, because the photographer had instructed Hallie to hold out her arm and me and Emily were to appear shocked. She didn’t tell us why at the time, but we knew it had to be something cool. When the pictures uploaded to the account, we discovered she had added Pascal from Tangled! And we just straight up had no idea that Tinkerbell had photobombed us all.

Oh, and Chef Mickey’s…this was a trip with my friend’s family, and Hallie’s sister has three young boys, so honestly that excursion was solely for them. It’s basically a super expensive breakfast where Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy all come to your table to take pictures with you. I recommend this experience to anyone with young children who tire easily and can’t handle waiting in lines to get pictures with the characters in the parks; it’s a good way to get some great character shots without waiting for at least a half hour (and most often that’s outside in the heat). And the food was delicious; Mickey Mouse waffles, chocolate chip pancakes, chocolate croissants- basically all of the wonderful breakfast things you could imagine are there. I basically only did it because everyone else was and I didn’t want to be alone. I would only do it again if I was with my own children in the WAY, WAYS AWAY future. Otherwise, it’s way too pricey of a venture.

Okay…I saved the best for last.

Guys, they have added so much Star Wars to Hollywood Studios, while so much was also covered up and clearly under construction so there will be even more!! I don’t think I want to go back until it’s all finished. They currently have shows with the major characters periodically throughout the day, including one that is simply called The First Order March, which is precisely what it sounds like. It’s so cool; Captain Phasma exerts her authority and they all march around on her command. One of the days we went there, I wore my BB-8 dress by Her Universe, of course. We went into a building that was partially a prop gallery, partially a theater, and also the place to meet and greet Kylo Ren and Chewbacca. We were there immediately after the opening of the park so the wait to meet Kylo was literally two minutes. But man…it was intense. One of the cast members who walked us in warned us not to “keep him waiting”. Then we walked into the room…he just stood there, staring at us. Emily made the hilarious mistake of thinking he extended an arm for her to loop in…and he took his arm away from hers and just stared at her. I’m pretty sure he was getting ready to Force-choke one of us…

Meeting Chewbacca was a much better experience. First of all, I received special, basically VIP treatment for the first time in my life. The young gentlemen cast member that was manning the line instantly struck up a conversation with us. He called me BB-8 and asked me to do my best impression. While I thought I did an amazing job, he thought I sounded more like Blue’s Clues. Hallie and Emily laughed. I then explained the specific scene I was going for and did it again, and they all agreed that one was better. He then told us to come back in a few minutes and he would do something for us. Still super early for park hours, we had a little fun in the other parts of the building with hardly any crowds around. I pretended to drink blue milk and almost traded goods with a Jawa:

So we came to our new buddy and he brought us to the front of the line to meet Chewbacca!! Such a magical moment. I think the wait time for everyone else was almost a half hour…I would have felt bad for the people in line if I didn’t feel so cool for being selected for such a neat privilege…even though I think he did it because he felt bad for saying my awesome BB-8 impression sounded like Blue’s Clues. And the second we walked in the room Emily already felt much better, and even explained to Chewbacca and the photographers what happened with Kylo Ren. The photographer rose his arms in the air and exclaimed “you tried to touch him?! Why would you try to touch Kylo Ren?!” while Chewie just shook his head at her.

Oh, and Hallie and I did this (and by pure coincidence, it was on Natalie Portman’s birthday):

I think I make a pretty cool Aayla Secura.

OH WAIT!

I almost forgot!

I think I mentioned my pin lanyard at least briefly in the previous post, so naturally I have to show you how it ended up after a few purchases and trades:

Dodger (from Oliver and Company) and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit were trades, while I bought the Han and Leia set for myself despite its’ clear Valentine’s Day packaging. I mean, I’ve bought myself chocolate on Valentine’s Day before..same thing, right? And Spider Girl came from a mystery pack with a handful of different Marvel pins; we all agreed to buy the pack and split the cost because Emily was desperate for the little Captain America she saw on the packaging. Because she wanted him so badly, we decided that she would get him if he was in our pack, which he was! For the rest, we had planned to fight over who got which pin. Hallie kept Hulk for herself and used She-Hulk and Venom to trade pins for her niece who couldn’t make the trip due to illness. I had contemplated trying to trade my Spider Girl but in the end, she was just too damn cute to give up…for now.

This is the end of my Disney World tales…until next time!
