I think I’ve just briefly discussed my Disney Tsum Tsums before, but I must update you on what I call my little Spider Squad + Gamora:
Aren’t they precious?! I have Spider-Gwen, Spider-Man, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, and Gamora from Guardians of the Galaxy on side of my car, accompanying me on my everyday travels. Spider-Woman makes an appearance in the Spider-Gwen comics, but I haven’t read any of her own comics. Nor have I read of Miles Morales, I must admit…but I needed him. He is half Hispanic and half African American! I love seeing more diversity in comics and superhero movies lately, being a minority myself. I am a half-breed as well (as Cher would call me), and also half Hispanic like Miles Morales!! Also, his Spider-suit is black and red, which is my favorite color combination. I couldn’t resist him. You can get your own adorable little Marvel buddies at the Disney Store!
Also, Spider-Gwen and Spider-Woman aren’t my newest additions to my Tsum Tsum traveling buddies gang:
I got Jango Fett and Aayla Secura from their latest Star Wars collection! While I think Boba Fett is overrated (but still makes for a cool car coaster, as you can see with my little Aayla), I love Jango. Perhaps it’s my love of the Clone Wars, and having been able to get to know his clones better through that show. Or maybe it’s just that I like his color scheme better…who knows!! (Okay, it’s the color scheme…)
And my little Aayla…I love Twi’leks. I love their lekku. That’s why I have her on the lower level of my car, so I can see her lekku more! So here’s a better shot of that, as well as a side shot so you can see her blue lightsaber:
Obviously, they’re not my only Star Wars Tsum Tsums!
I still want more. They’re barely fitting in these tiny spaces in my car now but I still want more! I want most of the other Star Wars characters they sell, more of the Marvel ones like Captain America, and of course the classic Disney ones, like Princess Aurora from an upcoming Sleeping Beauty collection. I have a plan if I decide to go crazy and buy all of the ones I want…first of all, don’t judge me. They’re reasonably priced/somewhat cheap, and after they have been at the Disney Store for a while, they go to stores like Wal-Mart and Target for a little bit cheaper! But anyway; if I end up getting all the little cuties I want, I plan on sticking them with double-sided velcro on my dashboard, like my Hula girl, Lolita. Well, not exactly on my dashboard; just right under the bottom of the front window? I don’t know car part terms, okay. I would just have them lined up against the window with the velcro on the bottom so they wouldn’t be rolling all over the place while I’m driving.
In other nerdy collectible news, Star Trek Beyond came out this week and I got the Best Buy exclusive Steelbook edition simply because I love the cover. It’s just like the poster they released when the movie was in theaters that was a throwback to the original poster of the first Star Trek motion picture. Also, I have a hook-up, so I also got a Starfleet pin this week:
They both look so perfect with my little Jaylah Funko Pop! figure!
This classic Beatles lyric just makes me imagine a scene with Jaylah from Star Trek Beyond being her usual awesome self:
Oh, speaking of Jaylah, my little Jaylah finally has a buddy:
I got a little Funko Pop! bobblehead of Spider-Gwen! I finished one of my Spider-Gwen graphic novels that one of my best friends gave me and I loved it! How can I not love a spunky superhero who is a drummer in all-ladies rock and roll band when she’s not webbing around?!
My list of badass ladies to admire just keeps growing..but let’s go back to my number one: my Ahsoka Tano!! Season 2 of Star Wars Rebels came out on DVD and Blu-Ray last week so, that’s basically what I’ve been doing…sorry, productivity! I’m not done yet, because I’m savoring every episode and Rebels Recon, and perhaps watching some scenes over and over again, like Ahsoka’s battle scene with the Seventh Sister (voiced by Sarah Michelle Gellar aka BUFFY aka Freddie Prinze Jr.’s Wife!) in the “Future of the Force” episode. Ahsoka is just phenomenal, so elegant and fierce in her combat. Also, I tweeted about my wonderful purchase and I how spent the rest of that day and Freddie Prinze Jr. AND Ashley Eckstein herself liked my tweet!! It’s the little things that make my day.
Speaking of my idol Ahsoka, look what I have on my car now that I bought from AStickyObsession:
Is it weird I feel like she’s my little Jedi guardian? But really, this decal is amazing and I’ve never seen anything like it until I found this Etsy shop. There’s also a grown-up, Rebels version of Ahsoka that is amazing, but I chose this one because I’m more attached to her Clone Wars look. Speaking of Rebels, there’s an amazing one of Hera as well, but I don’t consider myself enough of a Hera fan to get it, but it’s pretty cool. There’s also a little BB-8 one I have my eye on to order possibly sometime in the nearish future.
Sorry for the lack of posts lately, I lack both the inspiration and the time lately. Alas, I’ll be back shortly, possibly returning with some book reviews! I recently purchased a Black Widow novel called Forever Red, and the cashier at the book store was curious how it would compare to the comics. I only just got into Spider-Gwen but now I need some Black Widow comics as well to compare to this novel I’m excited to read!!
Guys, I’ve finally been in the same room as the beautiful legend that is Carrie Fisher!! Three of my closest friends, my boyfriend, and I all went to Wizard World Comic Con in Chicago this past weekend, and it was awesome. The Question&Answer Panel with Carrie Fisher happened to be on Sunday, the day we attended, and we all couldn’t pass up the chance to listen to Carrie Fisher in person. It was so great; she was funny, silly, and ever charming and lovely. And of course, Gary Fisher was with her as well and he was adorable; at one point he just napped on the couch and turned around so we could all see that famous tongue hang out. I knew she was going to be there months ago, and contemplated buying a photo op with her at the very least, but eventually decided it was in the best interest for my wallet at this particular time not to. But next time she’s in Chicago…I’m not missing that opportunity again. Knowing I was already missing out on meeting her, it was awesome to still be in the same room with her and listen to her speak, and hours later we were also near where she was meeting people and I was like, maybe a few small cars in a straight line away from her. I wanted to snap her picture to prove how close I was, but naturally she was surrounded by convention employees watching everyone. I was also dressed as Princess Leia and I was really hoping they would let me in anyways…nope, didn’t work. But hey, here’s some of the shots I got during the panel:
I wish I had gotten a closer seat or was able to actually line up and ask her a question. If I had the chance to speak to her, I would have apologized for the jerk who felt it was absolutely necessary to tell Carrie Fisher about his stupid child niece that saw the Force Awakens and at the end declared her disappointment that Han Solo died and that Princess Leia didn’t, because she “didn’t do anything”. Yes, that was it; that wasn’t even a question, which was the intention of the panel! I was so mad. General Leia herself took it like a champ and told a story of how recently a little girl said “No, I don’t want to meet old Leia,” and how if she didn’t have a sense of humor she would be miserable. Moral of the story? Children are terrible and some people are just such major idiotic jerks. Like, how massively rude of that man!! But she must be accustomed to stupid crap like that; she knew how to respond to that without any hesitation. I would have been angry and would have followed up this man’s stupid story with “…where was the question? I thought I was here to answer your questions,”… But she shouldn’t even have to deal with this crap! SHE IS CARRIE FISHER. SHE IS OUR BELOVED PRINCESS LEIA, SHOW HER ALL OF THE RESPECT YOU HAVE, DAMNIT!! It’s like those jerks who pushed their uber-NRA views on Daisy Ridley resulting in her choice to leave Instagram; these beautiful, beyond talented individuals are not actually obligated to interact with us fans…don’t ruin it and spoil this treasure you have proved we don’t even deserve! There were other stupid questions Carrie Fisher put up with, but that was just the worst. I can’t believe that man. Why weren’t those questions pre-screened?! He did not deserve to speak to Carrie Fisher, let alone breathe the same air as her.
I’m still so angry…I really wish I was able to go up there after him and make up for that rude, idiotic mess. And again, I hopefully would have made her happy because I was dressed as Princess Leia! I wore a dress by Her Universe for Hot Topic that’s a bit shorter but it’s honestly too fitted and fancy-feeling to be casual, so a convention like this was just the perfect place to wear it.
Yes, I did initially plan that outfit to wear when I would be meeting Carrie Fisher, but I stuck with it because Hallie decided she was going to be Princess Anna of Arendelle from Frozen, so naturally I had to be a princess with her. My boyfriend wore one of my Ahsoka shirts, Emily showed her Cap love, and my friend Jeff wore a Game of Thrones sweatshirt I didn’t understand (because I don’t watch it). We counted over 30 Suicide Squad/Margot Robbie Harley Quinn’s, and that was just from one day! I’m sure there were over 100 by the time the convention was over. I just want to be Ahsoka again…
Alas, this was only my third convention; I plan on going to many more and Cosplaying as all sorts of Disney and Star Wars characters!!
Oh wait, I almost forgot my swag:
We got free Captain America: Civil War buttons after picking up our tickets!
The adorable and sexy little pin-up-ish Princess Leia is from an artist I follow on Instagram and actually met her last year at Wizard World and bought super cute prints then as well! Her name is Bianca Roman-Stumpff, and does such delightful stuff. The Winnie the Pooh/Star Wars mash-up set I bought is actually for my aunt, who is a fan of both. It’s become a tradition now that I buy her a fun, unique little trinket when I go to these conventions because she’s largely the reason I’m so nerdy (she introduced me to Star Wars!). I want to get a little frame thing that will put them all together; I have no idea where she will put it but how could I resist?! I failed to grab that gentlemen’s business card but I believe his name is Dan Dougherty. He also had other Winnie the Pooh mash-ups, like the Avengers and Nightmare Before Christmas, and even all of the Doctors from Doctor Who, which I almost got but that was only available as a larger print. I haven’t given them to her yet but 1) I doubt she’ll see this before I give them to her and 2) I’m like 98% she’ll laugh and think they’re insanely adorable.
Another successful comic convention…why didn’t I start going to these sooner?!
Actually, not at all; it’s still summer here in the Midwest of America! Alas, I’m feeling very wintery today, cuddled up with a Star Wars blanket in my cold apartment, looking at Christmas ornaments. Normally I hate thinking of Christmas so ridiculously early because, having worked retail for the past six years, the holiday is just a little tainted for me. You know, with having to work on Thanksgiving night, working longer shifts for the extended store hours, dealing with the worst of the craziest shoppers for 3 months (after Christmas/January is the busiest time for returns), having the same, crappy Christmas music play over and over (aka, songs/versions of normally good Christmas songs that I don’t like)…it’s a nightmare. But hey, I still enjoying finding awesome gifts for my friends and family and spending time with all of them. Last December, when I started this blog, actually, I had wrote about my Star Wars Christmas Tree. It was majestic and I plan on doing it again. Now, I’m only thinking about it because on Pinterest, DisneyStore’s official account posts their latest items on the daily. Today, they posted this beauty that I NEED:
Rey, my lightsaber wielding, badass and overall incredible hero. After all, she would look perfect on the Star Wars Christmas Tree:
But, I still need an all-Disney Christmas tree as well, because DisneyStore.com also released these:
Yup, it’s Princess Elena of Avalor, Disney’s first Hispanic/Latina Princess! So far, the show is fun and darling. I love the theme song, I love her flying cheetah companions, and most importantly, I love Elena. As a Hispanic/Latina Disney lover, I’m so happy to feel finally represented by Disney with a perfect and lovely princess.
And here’s Cinderella, bright and early in the morning in her bed! I love this scene, her waking up and talking to all the animals about her dream. And she looks so incredibly darling.
And here’s my favorite princess, my Ariel, just looking so pretty and epic.
I love Belle. She’s a lovely bookworm, how can I not?! I also love this scene; these ornaments are literally capturing my favorite moments in these films, including Rey with the lightsaber.
And Spider-Man is just awesome and I love how he looks against the blue building.
Obviously I’m not going to buy them all just yet; they typically run good sales when you buy multiple when it gets closer to the holidays.
Damn you, DisneyStore.com, for making me look forward to Christmas in August!!
Happy Birthday, America!! I’ve had to work a bunch this past weekend but when I’ve been off I’ve been wearing such spirited things; last night I rocked a black tank top with the American flag Rolling Stones logo, and tonight I wore a lovely Captain America top by Her Universe from her special 75th Anniversary of Captain America collection for Kohl’s. I didn’t get any cute pictures with it on; my parents and I tried to take a festive family portrait but either I looked awful while my mom looked pretty, or vice versa, or we both looked cute but then my dad’s eyes were closed. Oh well. Instead, or at least for now, here is a picture of Ashley Eckstein herself wearing the shirt I’m wearing right this minute:
She is just too awesome and adorable to handle sometimes.
Speaking of Captain America…it’s also Steve Rogers’ birthday!!
#sorrynotsorry
Captain America is my favorite superhero, so I have to celebrate him! Sadly, I will be at work all day, but I’ve already started watching Captain America: The First Avenger tonight and I will definitely watch Captain America: The Winter Soldier tomorrow. I don’t believe I’ve discussed my love of Marvel movies enough, but I am so in love with these stories and the relationships between the characters of the Avengers movies. I appreciate the Thor and Iron Man movies, but the Captain America ones are my favorites. I’m not sure if Captain America: Civil War is still in theaters but I’m 100% down for going to see it a third time to further celebrate my superhero boyfriend’s birthday. It comes out on Blu-Ray and DVD in September and I’m so excited to have more of Cap and Bucky in my home. And Wanda. And Black Panther. And the new Spider-Man…I just love them.
Aside from winning my heart in terms of solo movies, Steve Rogers is such a beautiful and inspirational character in the other movies as well. After all, he was chosen for the Super Soldier serum because of his huge heart and selflessness. I was attracted to him pre-serum when he huddled himself over the grenade that he didn’t know was fake. And, tiny Steve Rogers is adorable anyway. Oh, how I wish I could be the one to give him his first dance.
I have to admit, though, that I also have a crush on his best friend, Bucky Barnes. Do you blame me, though?!
Okay….I’m getting quite distracted; this day is about Rogers!!
My love of Captain America was another love that was introduced to me by my dear friend Jeff, who also got me into Star Trek. I have the greatest friends ever, basically.
Oh, Steve Rogers, let’s just look at you for a bit:
But really, he’s a beauty inside and out, never forget that.
He’s also one of my favorites to play as in Disney Infinity; his shield makes this amazing, soaring swoosh noise when I throw it and he is just the best.
Also, when I went to C2E2 this past winter, I got this beautiful art from Naomi Romero:
Happy Fourth of July!! And, more importantly, Happy Birthday, Captain America!!
I’m talking to you, Disney Infinity! And yet, you decide to break my heart and get yourself cancelled. It’s been almost two months since the news was revealed, but I think I’m ready to talk about it. I must lament about what will never be…
First of all, I planned on playing Disney Infinity for the rest of my life! Or rather, I just didn’t even consider that it could ever end. After all, video game franchises tend to just go on and on; like, what Call of Duty are we even on?! The 140th?! But really; it all looks the exact same every time!! And you can’t possibly say the same thing about Disney Infinity, Disney Infinity 2.0, and Disney Infinity 3.0. First, I had fun in the playset storylines; I think my favorite would actually be a tie between Monsters University and the Incredibles. Then, there was the first joys of the Toy Box; I was enjoying the crap out of having a Nightmare Before Christmas-themed sky and background, having that score play while I run around Cinderella’s castle as Elsa, Woody, Wreck-it Ralph, or Rapunzel! Then 2.0 came along, and I could do the same thing and MORE! I built my own Agrabah, had another random land with the Lion King opening theme playing as I ran around as Gamora, Captain America, Black Widow, Jasmine, Donald Duck, etc. But my favorite installation of Disney Infinity has to be 3.0 because, well, STAR WARS! Literally my greatest fantasies came true; I could be Ahsoka seeking wisdom from Grandmother Willow while the score from Alice in Wonderland plays in the background. Also, before 3.0 came out, I had really hoped that they would make a Mulan figure, and then they did, and she was so perfect. She’s in the outfit that she wears at the end movie, not trying to impress the matchmaker in elegant and fancy clothes, not in a soldier’s uniform, but simply as herself. And she has her fan AND is wearing the medal the Emperor gives her. How badass and perfect is that?! While I was ecstatic that they had brought that fantasy to life, I’m sad now that I’ll never get the Hercules I merely hoped for.
And no, there were never any hints that they would even do that, because Hercules lost the fan vote to the promised Peter Pan that is never to be delivered. I discovered this YouTube channel called Infiniteer Adventures that has uncovered Disney Infinity figures and playsets that are never to be released. It’s both a delight and a kick to the heart because it’s fun knowing and seeing what they had planned before the cancellation, but it’s also awful knowing what we, as Disney Infinity fans, will actually never have any of these beautiful figures and playsets.
One of the Star Wars additions to 3.0 was the main cast of Rebels! Oh wait. Not all of them…okay, literally all of the crew but Hera. I never understood that decision and I’m so upset that I won’t own this epic figure and get to put her near the Rebels I do have (Kanan, Ezra, and Sabine. No Zeb for me).
I further perused through this channel and found something I didn’t expect at all: evidently they were going to add Spider-Gwen as a Marvel addition!! Admittedly, I haven’t read any Spider-Gwen comics; I’ve just seen so many images of her and just bits of the comics online and have found her so intriguing. I want to get into those comics someday. AND LOOK HOW BADASS AND BEAUTIFUL SHE WAS GOING TO BE:
I’m so sad I won’t be able to play this figure. I would have put her next to my Spider-Man on my shelf.
I must admit, though; if Disney Infinity was truly going to continue for years to come, I would need to buy a new entertainment center (again) to accommodate all of my figures. Or I would just need a whole new bookcase that I could dedicate the figures to. I usually don’t show people my collection, but now seems like a good time:
One thing I don’t think I’m going to miss about Disney Infinity? The constant belittling and ridicule I’ve endured over the years from all sorts of folk, just for playing a game I love. Perhaps it’s why I don’t really declare myself as a “gamer”, even though I love playing certain video games; I just don’t want to get into that whole mess. To so many pretentious jerks, I’m not a “real” gamer. Like, I have people ridicule my choice of console all of the time. But seriously…why does it matter to anyone else that I have a Wii U? It makes me happy, and it has no affect on other people at all. People tell me all the time I need to upgrade and get an adult console, but why? And if they’re not telling me to get a different console, they’re telling me that I have to switch to PC gaming. Sure, thanks for the recommendation, but seriously…what does it matter to them?! And it never feels like a friendly, heartfelt suggestion that is meant to better my life- it is always said in such a pretentious matter, like you’re so much better than me for playing video games the way you do, even more so for the playing the games that you do. I don’t criticize them for playing non-imaginative war games over and over…okay, at least not to their faces…but I can somewhat accept that that’s what you enjoy and leave you alone about it. I’ve had so many people tell me I’m playing a child’s game, and that just because it’s Disney it can’t be difficult, intense, or even just plain fun for someone my age. But for me, it is. I adore Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars, so it’s actually perfect. And I also enjoy just being a different character, and watching him or her run around with my intended actions. Like, I love Mario games because I love being Peach! And you can’t possibly put me down for enjoying Mario. It’s just essential and classic to anyone who enjoys video games even just mildly. I enjoy plunging into these fantasy worlds as characters I adore and even creating my own fantasy worlds. To me, running around and kicking butt as a character I love is more fun than looking down the barrel of a gun, only knowing that I’m a character in the game when I shoot and grunt. (Basically, I don’t get those shooter games. I like seeing my character.) But again, whatever; if that’s how you get your kicks, I won’t stop you. So don’t try to put me down for getting my kicks.
OH! And people think that these “Toys to Life” video games instantly just means you play with toys. I mean, as much as I miss those days, I just don’t do that. (Plus, all of the figures are actually figurines in the sense that they aren’t bendable and able to change poses like your typical “action figure”.) I will admit, though, that sometimes after I play a game for a bit and then put them back on my shelf, I do have a tendency to just gaze at all of my figures. They were made so exquisitely well and they’re just so lovely. Especially this one:
Farewell, Disney Infinity! At least I’ve been going back and forth between 2.0 and 3.0 so I’m not done yet, anyway!
