“She asked me to stay and she told me to sit anywhere; when I looked around I noticed there wasn’t a chair,”

This classic Beatles lyric just makes me imagine a scene with Jaylah from Star Trek Beyond being her usual awesome self:

Star Trek Beyond:

Oh, speaking of Jaylah, my little Jaylah finally has a buddy:

I got a little Funko Pop! bobblehead of Spider-Gwen! I finished one of my Spider-Gwen graphic novels that one of my best friends gave me and I loved it! How can I not love a spunky superhero who is a drummer in all-ladies rock and roll band when she’s not webbing around?!

My list of badass ladies to admire just keeps growing..but let’s go back to my number one: my Ahsoka Tano!! Season 2 of Star Wars Rebels came out on DVD and Blu-Ray last week so, that’s basically what I’ve been doing…sorry, productivity! I’m not done yet, because I’m savoring every episode and Rebels Recon, and perhaps watching some scenes over and over again, like Ahsoka’s battle scene with the Seventh Sister (voiced by Sarah Michelle Gellar aka BUFFY aka Freddie Prinze Jr.’s Wife!) in the “Future of the Force” episode. Ahsoka is just phenomenal, so elegant and fierce in her combat. Also, I tweeted about my wonderful purchase and I how spent the rest of that day and Freddie Prinze Jr. AND Ashley Eckstein herself liked my tweet!! It’s the little things that make my day.

Speaking of my idol Ahsoka, look what I have on my car now that I bought from AStickyObsession:

my-ahsoka-decal

Is it weird I feel like she’s my little Jedi guardian? But really, this decal is amazing and I’ve never seen anything like it until I found this Etsy shop. There’s also a grown-up, Rebels version of Ahsoka that is amazing, but I chose this one because I’m more attached to her Clone Wars look. Speaking of Rebels, there’s an amazing one of Hera as well, but I don’t consider myself enough of a Hera fan to get it, but it’s pretty cool. There’s also a little BB-8 one I have my eye on to order possibly sometime in the nearish future.

Sorry for the lack of posts lately, I lack both the inspiration and the time lately. Alas, I’ll be back shortly, possibly returning with some book reviews! I recently purchased a Black Widow novel called Forever Red, and the cashier at the book store was curious how it would compare to the comics. I only just got into Spider-Gwen but now I need some Black Widow comics as well to compare to this novel I’m excited to read!!

“Somebody’s got to save our skins!”

Guys, I’ve finally been in the same room as the beautiful legend that is Carrie Fisher!! Three of my closest friends, my boyfriend, and I all went to Wizard World Comic Con in Chicago this past weekend, and it was awesome. The Question&Answer Panel with Carrie Fisher happened to be on Sunday, the day we attended, and we all couldn’t pass up the chance to listen to Carrie Fisher in person. It was so great; she was funny, silly, and ever charming and lovely. And of course, Gary Fisher was with her as well and he was adorable; at one point he just napped on the couch and turned around so we could all see that famous tongue hang out. I knew she was going to be there months ago, and contemplated buying a photo op with her at the very least, but eventually decided it was in the best interest for my wallet at this particular time not to. But next time she’s in Chicago…I’m not missing that opportunity again. Knowing I was already missing out on meeting her, it was awesome to still be in the same room with her and listen to her speak, and hours later we were also near where she was meeting people and I was like, maybe a few small cars in a straight line away from her. I wanted to snap her picture to prove how close I was, but naturally she was surrounded by convention employees watching everyone. I was also dressed as Princess Leia and I was really hoping they would let me in anyways…nope, didn’t work. But hey, here’s some of the shots I got during the panel:

IMG_0848IMG_0851IMG_0857

I wish I had gotten a closer seat or was able to actually line up and ask her a question. If I had the chance to speak to her, I would have apologized for the jerk who felt it was absolutely necessary to tell Carrie Fisher about his stupid child niece that saw the Force Awakens and at the end declared her disappointment that Han Solo died and that Princess Leia didn’t, because she “didn’t do anything”. Yes, that was it; that wasn’t even a question, which was the intention of the panel! I was so mad. General Leia herself took it like a champ and told a story of how recently  a little girl said “No, I don’t want to meet old Leia,” and how if she didn’t have a sense of humor she would be miserable. Moral of the story? Children are terrible and some people are just such major idiotic jerks. Like, how massively rude of that man!! But she must be accustomed to stupid crap like that; she knew how to respond to that without any hesitation. I would have been angry and would have followed up this man’s stupid story with “…where was the question? I thought I was here to answer your questions,”… But she shouldn’t even have to deal with this crap! SHE IS CARRIE FISHER. SHE IS OUR BELOVED PRINCESS LEIA, SHOW HER ALL OF THE RESPECT YOU HAVE, DAMNIT!! It’s like those jerks who pushed their uber-NRA views on Daisy Ridley resulting in her choice to leave Instagram; these beautiful, beyond talented individuals are not actually obligated to interact with us fans…don’t ruin it and spoil this treasure you have proved we don’t even deserve! There were other stupid questions Carrie Fisher put up with, but that was just the worst. I can’t believe that man. Why weren’t those questions pre-screened?! He did not deserve to speak to Carrie Fisher, let alone breathe the same air as her.

I’m still so angry…I really wish I was able to go up there after him and make up for that rude, idiotic mess. And again, I hopefully would have made her happy because I was dressed as Princess Leia! I wore a dress by Her Universe for Hot Topic that’s a bit shorter but it’s honestly too fitted and fancy-feeling to be casual, so a convention like this was just the perfect place to wear it.

IMG_0869IMG_0870

Yes, I did initially plan that outfit to wear when I would be meeting Carrie Fisher, but I stuck with it because Hallie decided she was going to be Princess Anna of Arendelle from Frozen, so naturally I had to be a princess with her. My boyfriend wore one of my Ahsoka shirts, Emily showed her Cap love, and my friend Jeff wore a Game of Thrones sweatshirt I didn’t understand (because I don’t watch it). We counted over 30 Suicide Squad/Margot Robbie Harley Quinn’s, and that was just from one day! I’m sure there were over 100 by the time the convention was over. I just want to be Ahsoka again…

ahsoka and sheeta at the jukebox

Alas, this was only my third convention; I plan on going to many more and Cosplaying as all sorts of Disney and Star Wars characters!!

Oh wait, I almost forgot my swag:

We got free Captain America: Civil War buttons after picking up our tickets!

The adorable and sexy little pin-up-ish Princess Leia is from an artist I follow on Instagram and actually met her last year at Wizard World and bought super cute prints then as well! Her name is Bianca Roman-Stumpff, and does such delightful stuff. The Winnie the Pooh/Star Wars mash-up set I bought is actually for my aunt, who is a fan of both. It’s become a tradition now that I buy her a fun, unique little trinket when I go to these conventions because she’s largely the reason I’m so nerdy (she introduced me to Star Wars!). I want to get a little frame thing that will put them all together; I have no idea where she will put it but how could I resist?! I failed to grab that gentlemen’s business card but I believe his name is Dan Dougherty. He also had other Winnie the Pooh mash-ups, like the Avengers and Nightmare Before Christmas, and even all of the Doctors from Doctor Who, which I almost got but that was only available as a larger print. I haven’t given them to her yet but 1) I doubt she’ll see this before I give them to her and 2) I’m like 98% she’ll laugh and think they’re insanely adorable.

Another successful comic convention…why didn’t I start going to these sooner?!

“I am no Jedi,”

I’ve written about this artist before, but I have to yet again because I’m so happy with my latest purchases featuring artwork by Lorna-ka.

First up is my beautiful Clone Wars era Ahsoka clock:

FullSizeRender (20)

I knew this piece would make the perfect clock. First of all, that’s my favorite Ahsoka outfit. Secondly, Lorna-ka has done her so exquisitely, while capturing her sass, confidence, and charm. It’s definitely the coolest clock I’ve ever had, and I just got rid of a much bigger, guitar-shaped, neon-lit clock that broke years ago. It was about time and I deserved this beautiful clock, damnit! It was my birthday present to myself 😉

Recently, I got a new phone. Nothing major, just upgraded from my iPhone 5S to a 6S because I didn’t feel like dealing with any serious changes. However, I decided I wanted a more unique case than I’ve ever had before. I got the idea to buy a sticker and put it underneath a clear case from one of my favorite artists I follow on Instagram, though I didn’t end up using one of her stickers. Instead, I turned yet again to Lorna-ka. I ordered this beautiful Ahsoka profile sticker from Redbubble, another site that sells everything from standard prints to apparel of artists’ work. I decided to put it on an Otterbox insert made to fit inside my Otterbox Symmetry Series clear-back case. I’m not completely in love with the insert but I trusted that more than making my own to put it in there…but perhaps in the future I’ll use that to trace my own out of funky craft paper from Michael’s or something. It didn’t even fully fill in but you can’t really tell unless you’re just starting at my phone case intensely. The results:

IMG_0734IMG_0735

I don’t even care if it looks like I just put a sticker on a case (which is simplifying my efforts greatly), I’m just happy to represent my favorite cartoon idol done by one of my favorite artists and the sticker won’t just wear out because on the inside of my case!

P.S. Yes, that’s another BeepBoopBeepClothing tank I’m sporting in that picture above! My tanks by them have been one of my favorite summer go-to’s. And Rey is another one of my idols!!

“I like the beats, and the shouting,”

So yes, Star Trek Beyond technically comes out today but I was lucky enough to see it Thursday night and I loved it!! I don’t want to say anything that might spoil the movie, so all I will say is that I love Jayla, played by Sofia Boutella, who was super cool in Kingsman as Gazelle, so I admittedly had high hopes when I discovered that she was in the new Star Trek and I was not disappointed. Yet another strong, woman idol to add to the list! Also, all I want is a cute top (perhaps a flowy tee? I just don’t like the fit of most standard t-shirts) with this image on it because it’s awesome:

Her character is a lone wolf of sorts, just like Rey! She is just awesome and by far my favorite part of the new movie. Oh, and speaking of my idols…

The Her Universe Fashion Show happened tonight at the San Diego Comic Con!! No, I wasn’t there…I never have been but someday I will!! I’m just beyond in awe of Ashley Eckstein’s beautiful Ahsoka-inspired braids and her Ahsoka dress made entirely out of Legos!! I took these from the Snapchat accounts of Hot Topic and Polyvore:

IMG_0707IMG_0712

Ashley Eckstein becomes even more fabulous and inspiring every day. On Hot Topic’s Snapchat, she talked about how powerful women are “increasingly being celebrated, highlighted, and applauded”, so of course she had an Ahsoka outfit! But aside from my Ahsoka love, she’s absolutely right and it’s just amazing how strong women are becoming more prominent in our pop culture. Speaking of strong, powerful, awesome women, my two closest girlfriends gave me these graphic novels for my birthday, and I’m so excited to read them:

IMG_0713

And they happen to be laying on top of a Star Wars comics-style blanket my boyfriend’s family made for me for my birthday! I’m especially stoked about my Spider-Gwen comics; I’ve been intrigued merely by images of her for a while now, so it will be fun to read her stories.

“When she moves, my brain screams out this song,”

I’ve been admiring the work of Lorna-ka for months, talking about all of her Star Wars-inspired work I want to buy, and I finally did it! Soon I’ll be going to Disney World with my best friends and I wanted to have a smaller purse and wallet to walk around the parks with, so I ordered this adorable purse from Hot Topic along with a tiny zip purse from Lorna-ka’s shop on Society6 of one of my favorite pieces of hers:

IMG_4263

My picture doesn’t do her portrait justice, so look at the print version on Society6’s website:

SWR Fulcrum Art Print

Isn’t my hero just exquisite?! I’m so happy I get to walk around with my Ahsoka every day! I have plans for purchases, but I’m waiting on more sales…there’s this other one of Ahsoka from her Clone Wars days that I decided I need as a clock:

TCW - Snips Art Print

This is a nod to her competitiveness with her master, Anakin. Also, I absolutely love her smug face and the way Lorna-ka drew Ahsoka’s body. It’s just perfect, and as you may have read before, this my favorite outfit of hers and Lorna-ka just nails it.

There’s also another piece she did just recently of Ahsoka as a mermaid, which puts two of my favorite obsessions together in such a beautiful way. I’m pretty sure she did it for #Mermay; I’ve noticed a lot of my favorite artists have been putting up new mermaid artwork lately, which is awesome. This one I want as a print…I’m debating on the size but I’m thinking of buying it tonight because 15% off and free shipping on various items is going on until midnight on Society6. LOOK AT IT:

Mersoka Art Print

She just looks so damn elegant and sage. I need it in my life. I just don’t know if I want it as part of the rest of my art collection, which will simply be prints of various sizes (but all relatively small) all in varying frames together on my wall, or on another wall, extremely large and all by itself. I would just have to take other things down to fit a nearly poster-sized version, though…I have a large Breakfast Club poster that I’ve had in room since I was like 12….I suppose it could be time to take it down, it’s had quite a run on my wall, but I would just feel bad. Yes, I know the poster doesn’t have feelings…OR DOES IT?! This also, unfortunately, brings up the question of what I’m doing with my life. Will I even have the bachelorette pad I’ve always dreamed of, with nerd art and furniture and rock and roll memorabilia all around?! Well yes, of course I will. BUT WHEN?!

Okay…excuse my existential crisis.

Help me…what size should I get?!
